I remember Miss Martha, the first one into the kitchen, in the little church my dad served, when they had those church dinners. Those suppers happened regularly and were great times of celebration and fellowship for most of the members were widow ladies who lived and ate alone day after day.
Miss Martha was admired for her soft white hands which lovingly prepared some of the foods we shared together.
"How do you keep your hands so smooth and wrinkle-free?" my mother inquired one time, as Miss Martha mixed the chicken salad by hand.
"Oh, dearie, it is easy", she replied. "Every day, first thing, I wash my hands with my morning urine. Keeps them young lookin', for sure."
